Tom Cruise wastes no time in these clips from Jack Reacher: Never Go Back

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

The latest Jack Reacher film from director Edward Zwick (THE LAST SAMURAI, GLORY) finds the titular character looking to clear his name yet again, but this time around he has a partner in Cobie Smulders‘ Susan Turner. I’d suggest a possible romance but judging from the two clips below, it looks like Reacher ain’t got time for that! You’ve seen snippets of these scenes in the trailer, but feel free to check out a larger glimpse of what Reacher can do.

I’ve said it before, but Zwick seems to lack a certain grace that suited Reacher in the first film. Of course, McQuarrie brought a more stylistically grounded approach to his film, of which I’m not sure Zwick is capable of. The one-liners here feel like they’re trying way too hard, and I can’t sah that Cruise delivers them with the gusto of a Schwarzenegger if they were going the “camp route.” Still, I’ll be curious as to how this one turns out. Cruise hits more often than not in regards to his filmography.

JACK REACHER: NEVER GO BACK hits theaters on October 21, 2016.
