Tom Hardy shifts into full-on beast mode in new action-packed Venom clip

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Sony Pictures has webbed up a new and intense clip for director Ruben Fleischer's VENOM starring Tom Hardy as the sinister symbiote. In the clip, titled “To Protect and Serve,” we find Hardy's Eddie Brock engaging in an all-out throw-down with a battalion of officers that are armed to the teeth. After several words of caution, Brock is left with little choice but to transform into Venom, the violent alien creature of Spider-Man fame that dwells just beneath the investigative journalist's thick skin. As a hail of gunfire rips through the air, we witness Venom using his unique abilities to make short work of his opposition, even if that means catching tear gas canisters and bullets with its bare hands. The scene gives fans a taste of what's to come, and holy wheat cakes is it ever a sweet display of unadulterated comic book goodness.

Joining Tom Hardy for VENOM are co-stars Michelle Williams as Anne Weying and Riz Ahmed as the nefarious Carlton Drake. While fans were hoping that the movie would earn an R-rating, Sony has branded the film PG-13, with the intention of leaving room for a Spider-Man/Venom crossover, down the road.

VENOM will web-swing its way into theaters on October 5th. Let us know what you think of the new clip below.
