Tom Hardy’s Capone banks a VOD record with $2.5M+ earned

Just ten days out from its release, Vertical Entertainment and Redbox Entertainment are reporting a $2.5+ million dollar return for Tom Hardy's gangster film CAPONE. While that figure might appear as couch change to some when held against other theatrical releases, it's important to remember that CAPONE made its debut on VOD services, and that the film's $2.5+M return is more than any other in Vertical Entertainment's previous VOD releases.

Directed by CHRONICLE and FANTASTIC FOUR helmer Josh Trank, CAPONE muscled its way onto VOD platforms on May 12. Among a selection of services that hosted the film was iTunes, where CAPONE quickly became the outlet's No. 1 movie within three days of release.

Directed and written by Josh Trank, CAPONE centers around the 47-year old Al Capone, who after 10 years in prison, begins suffering from dementia and comes to be haunted by his violent past.

Joining Hardy for the biographical crime drama are Linda Cardellini (FREAKS AND GEEKS, SCOOBY-DOO), Katherine Narducci (THE IRISHMAN, GODFATHER OF HARLEM), Matt Dillon (CRASH, DRUGSTORE COWBOY), Kyle MacLachlan (TWIN PEAKS, INSIDE OUT) and Noel Fisher (SHAMELESS, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES), among others.
