Last year’s SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE was one of 2018’s biggest surprises and best movies, on top of being filled with Easter eggs from the entire comics and movie history of Spider-Man and various Spider-People. We’ve reported on ideas the makers of SPIDER-VERSE had for potential inclusions from past Spider-Men, like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, and now current Spidey Tom Holland shared a bit of information about his own planned cameo in the movie, which was, sadly, squashed.

The actor was alongside FAR FROM HOME co-stars Jacob Batalon and Zendaya when they were answering some fan questions for UK’s JOE. They all began gushing about the animated hit, with Batalon even saying he tried to talk with Sony’s then-head Amy Pascal about throwing him into the movie. But it was Holland’s response that got some attention when he said he was supposed to have a very quick cameo that didn’t make the cut.

“Yeah, there was going to be another Peter Parker," Holland said. "It was a scene in a train station or something and it was going to be like an Easter egg. I was gonna walk through the background and say like, ‘Hey, kid!’ or something. Never happened. Heartbroken.”

In the past, SPIDER-VERSE co-writer and co-director Rodney Rothman spoke about how he wrote scenes featuring Holland, Maguire and Garfield, but at the end of the day, they scrapped them so as to not further confuse people about timelines, multiverses, etc. However, now that SPIDER-VERSE has become an Oscar-winning smash, and what with the events AVENGERS: ENDGAME opening up opportunities to explore a multiverse (as hinted at in FAR FROM HOME trailers), maybe now it will make more sense to audiences for other major Spider-Men to come and go in future animated sequels, should they be on the docket.

But who knows, maybe Holland won't have to wait for an animated movie to interact with Miles Morales. In the interview, he expressed excitement over getting to meet him should the MCU introduce the character in the live-action movies, which given the success of SPIDER-VERSE, could only be a matter of time.

SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME is in theaters July 2.
