Sometimes, all you need is a simple description to get you on board a movie, and Wildman might have a great one. THR reports that Badlands, a genre label run by Scott Strauss, has acquired a spec script by Jacob Rainer for a movie that’s being described as “John Wick but with a Bigfoot.” Sign me up.

The logline reads: “When his little brother is killed by hunters, Bigfoot goes on a quest to retrieve the body while killing everyone responsible along the way.” Done right, this one could be a lot of fun.

Badlands is an arm of Thunder Road, the production company run by Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee that produces the John Wick movies, among others.

Rainer’s script got discovered after he entered a horror screenplay contest run by Carson Reeves on Scriptshadow.net. Wildman was highlighted and caught the attention of manager Jake Wagner of Alibi Entertainment. And then Rainer got his first-ever screenwriting deal.

Badlands will be releasing its first feature next month. Crawlers, a spider-filled horror movie directed by Ángel Gómez Hernández. The film stars Matilda Lutz (Red Sonja) as Serena, the overworked and underappreciated manager of the Paradiso Palms apartment complex, who must deal with a venomous spider infestation. The film is set to hit theaters on October 16.

The John Wick Franchise

Although John Wick: Chapter 4 seemingly brought the story of the legendary assassin to an end, the lucrative franchise will continue. Ana de Armas starred in Ballerina, the first spin-off movie, and Lionsgate has announced plans for John Wick: Chapter 5 and an animated prequel. A spin-off featuring Donnie Yen as Caine, the blind character from the fourth movie, also wrapped production this summer.

There’s also a John Wick video game in the works with Keanu Reeves returning to voice the legendary assassin. The single-player third-person game is described as an AAA title for “mature audiences” currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC. Along with Reeves, John Wick director Chad Stahelski is also involved. Yeah, but will he fight a Bigfoot?
