Trailer: Daniel Radcliffe struggles to survive in Greg McLean’s Jungle

JUNGLE is said to be "based on the inspiring true story", and judging by the newly released trailer the main thing it's going to inspire viewers to do is avoid backpacking trips through the jungle.

Based on a novel written by a survivor of the real ordeal, JUNGLE has the following synopsis:

In the early 1980s, 22-year-old Israeli backpacker Yossi Ghinsberg and two friends – Swiss teacher Marcus Stamm and American photographer Kevin Gale – set off from the Bolivian city of La Paz on what was supposed to be the adventure of a lifetime. Leading the way into the uncharted Amazon was an Austrian expat named Karl Ruprechter, who had met the friends just days before and claimed to be familiar with the region. But their dream trip soon turned into a wilderness nightmare from which not all of the men returned.

Daniel Radcliffe stars as Ghinsberg and is joined in the cast by Lily Sullivan, Joel Jackson, Alex Russell, and Thomas Kretschmann.

JUNGLE isn't exactly a horror film, but the situation its characters are forced to endure certainly looks horrific, and the movie was directed by a genre veteran – WOLF CREEK / WOLF CREEK 2 / ROGUE / THE DARKNESS / THE BELKO EXPERIMENT's Greg McLean. If it's as effective as the trailer, it promises to be an intense viewing experience, so it seemed worth mentioning here.

JUNGLE is set to receive a theatrical and VOD release on October 20th.
