The trailer for John Landis’ horror comedy BURKE & HARE has just hit the ‘net, emphasizing comedy over horror in a big way. While it looks well done and the performances seem to be on-point, I’m just not really feeling it. Not yet, at least. I’d jump at an opportunity to watch it, there’s no doubt about that, but the hijinks might be a bit too broad and slapsticky for my taste. I was hoping for dry British wit, not fart and ass jokes…

BURKE AND HARE is a black comedy based on the true story about the famous murderers, ‘Burke And Hare’ follows the hapless exploits of these two men as they fall into the highly profitable business of providing cadavers for the medical fraternity in Nineteenth Century Edinburgh, then the centre of medical learning. The one thing they were short of was bodies.

The flick stars Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Isla Fisher, Tim Curry, Christopher Lee, Tom Wilkinson, Stephen Merchant, Jenny Agutter, Hugh Bonneville, Jessica Hynes, Georgia King and Bill Bailey. Certianly a top-notch cast, and we’re all probably eager to see how Landis fares in his return to mist-covered England. Fingers crossed.

Still no release date on this one, however.
