This Friday, October 5th, the Netflix streaming service will be releasing a film that looks to be quite an intense take on the haunted house scenario. Directed by Olaf de Fleur from a screenplay by Ben Katai and Eva Konstantopoulos, the film is titled MALEVOLENT (when it's not written in all caps, they're capitalizing the V for some reason: MaleVolent) and it appears to be one worth adding to the Halloween season viewing list.

The synopsis:

Siblings Jackson and Angela run a profitable ghostbusting racket; swindling the bereaved with fake detection equipment and Angela's paranormal 'visions'. Hired to investigate a haunted old foster home, the team uncover its terrifying past: young girls brutally slaughtered, mouths stitched shut; silenced by a sadistic killer. And Angela's on the edge – sleepless, strung out and losing her mind, no longer certain what's actually real; convinced she hears the girls crying out to her from the darkness… But supernatural terrors are the least of their problems when they discover the very real evil lurking in the isolated house.

Florence Pugh, Celia Imrie, and Ben Lloyd-Hughes star.

I don't often get hyped for haunted house movies, slashers and creature features are more my speed, but the trailer for MALEVOLENT definitely has me sold.

Check out the trailer below, and if you like the looks of MALEVOLENT watch for it to hit the Netflix streaming service in just three days.
