Trailer invites you to the Hairmetal Shotgun Zombie Massacre

Last Updated on July 21, 2021

If you've ever wondered how THE EVIL DEAD would have played out if the people staying in that demon-sieged cabin had been a metal band instead of random college kids, director Joshua Allan Vargas has delivered the answer you've been looking for in the form of his new film HAIRMETAL SHOTGUN ZOMBIE MASSACRE.

Written by Vargas and Jvstin Whitney, the story of the film started out as a joke concept they came up with while wasted, but has now evolved into a feature film about

a hair metal band that, while struggling to find its own identity, decides to record its first full-length album is a creepy cabin located in the middle of a notorious cemetery. Chock full of weed, coke, and booze, the band discovers a secret in the cellar and unwittingly open a gate that allows demons to possess the corpses in the surrounding cemetery. Forced to have to survive the night and with the odds getting slimmer, the band must battle hordes of the demonic undead and hope to get a record deal somewhere in the process.

Vargas describes the film as a love letter to the heavy metal and splatter films of the '80s, naming EVIL DEAD, NIGHT OF THE DEMONS, BLACK ROSES, and ROCK 'N' ROLL NIGHTMARE as inspiration.

HAIRMETAL SHOTGUN ZOMBIE MASSACRE features original music by former Judas Priest vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens and former Philip H. Ansemlo & the Illegals guitarist Marzi Montazeri. Tom Araya (Slayer), Randy Blythe (Lamb of God), and David Vincent (Morbid Angel) make cameos.

I don't know very much about metal myself, but I love this sort of movie and HAIRMETAL looks like it's going to be one hell of a fun time. Check out the trailer below, which features a special treat for those of you who loved the Doof Warrior in MAD MAX: FURY ROAD.
