First FOOD FIGHT!, THE EMOJI MOVIE, and now this? A goddamn ANIMAL CRACKERS movie? What depths will Hollywood sink to? What's next, CHEEZ-ITS the movie, starring Ryan Reynolds as a cracker who has to go on a journey of — actually that doesn't sound like a bad idea. Or maybe I'm just hungry.
However, at the same time, THE LEGO MOVIE is just as crass and commercial an idea as this one, but that movie turned out awesome. Hell, maybe even THE EMOJI MOVIE will surprise us? So I'm willing to not write this movie off just yet. Not to mention it involves the voice talents of Ian McKellen, Sylvester Stallone, John Krasinski, and Danny DeVito (among others). So let's take a look at the trailer and see for ourselves:
I mean…the gimmick of eating magic animal crackers turning you into animals is an interesting way to take it. At least it's not the cliche route. And there were some funny moments (basically the whole Patrick Warburton part), so I won't write it off just yet. It still doesn't look great, but it also doesn't look abysmal either. I'll wait for the reviews.
Meanwhile, ANIMAL CRACKERS will take a bite out of theaters September 1st.
