Personal Shopper Kristen Stewart Olivier Assayas

Yesterday, we shared a report on the very different reactions writer/director Olivier Assayas's trippy ghost story PERSONAL SHOPPER has received at its two screenings at the Cannes Film Festival. One screening ended in boos, the other with a standing ovation. Now we have a trailer that gives a look at the film that has split audiences in a major way.

Starring Kristen Stewart, PERSONAL SHOPPER tells the story of

a young American in Paris who half-believes she’s in contact with her late twin brother.

The "half-believes" part of the description definitely makes sense when watching the trailer, as it does look like the ghostly activity could be explained away as being all in her head. But, of course, there's a lot of movie we're not seeing here. I'm interested in watching the film and finding out what's going on.

IFC Films will be releasing PERSONAL SHOPPER later this year.
