Transformers 3 new date

Even with a giant chasm between box-office receipts (astronomical) and critical praise (or abominable lack-thereof) for TRANSFORMERS 2, Michael Bay and his team of visual pyrotechnics are forging ahead with an accelerated release for TRANSFORMERS 3.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that not only will Bay retain directorial duties for the Paramount film, the release date for the project has been rocketed up a whole year. Instead of a July 1, 2012 theater invasion, TRANSFORMERS 3 will bombard theatergoers on July 1, 2011. How ‘bout them apples!

Steven Spielberg, with his astute business-cap firmly fastened, will executive produce the film (as he did on the two previous films, which have collected a cool $1.5 billion worldwide).

Stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox are slated for return, with co-writer Ehren Kruger (THE RING) also set to reprise his duties.
