Transformers 3 to shoot in May for a July 2011 release

I have a confession to make. I still haven’t seen TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN. I know, I know, cut me some slack. I have a great list of excuses: 1) It was called TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN; and… um… that’s actually the only one I have. But it’s a good one!

Let’s face it, though, the reviews were pretty dismal on this one; even the ones that claimed it was so utterly offensive that it had to be seen to be believed couldn’t sway me. I pretty much loathe the original, and the prospect of more robots crashing into one another for over two hours really doesn’t do anything for me.

It does something for some, however, because the f*cking thing made $830 million worldwide. Think that merits a Part 3? You bet it does. In an article over at Deadline Hollywood about Shia LaBeouf leaving his agency for another (that tramp!), it’s casually mentioned that Shia will begin work on TF3 this May. That more or less jibes with the planned JULY 1st, 2011 release date that was announced last fall.

Ehren Kruger is writing the screenplay. No word yet on what racist stereotypes it will be tackling.
