I’m not a watcher of HBO’s popular “True Blood”, but I gather many of you are, so I’m pleased to bring you the news that the vampire show will be returning for a 3rd season sometime next year. The network announced yesterday that they’ve renewed Alan Ball’s thriller/drama, with an eye toward airing it Summer 2010.

This isn’t really a big surprise, as “True Blood” is currently HBO’s biggest hit. When the 2nd season premiered in June, it chomped on 3.7 million viewers, making it was the most-watched program on the network since “The Sopranos” finale two years ago. It now averages approximately 3.8 million viewers every week; impressively, its audience continues to grow considerably on a week-to-week basis.
