No derailing the casting train for Amy Heckerling’s romantic horror ditty VAMPS, as we’ve just learned yet another has been added to the pallet of players. Of course, this comes on the heels of the news this morning that comedian Richard Lewis and Heckerling alum Alicia Silverstone have joined the cast…so that makes three new names in a day. So far.

Joining Lewis and Silverstone as newly added cast members is TV vet Kristen Johnston (“3rd Rock From the Sun,” “ER”). Word is Johnston will play Mrs. Van Helsing, a posh British woman who is suspicious of her son’s new love interest Stacey (Krysten Ritter). Sigourney Weaver is also on board to play a bloodthirsty “stem” vampire who creates a dynasty.

Johnston (seen right and below), who most recently graced the small screen in “Ugly Betty,” will appear in a guest-starring role in the upcoming second season of “Bored to Death.”

VAMPS tells the modern day tale of two young beautiful female vampires living the good nightlife in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize her immortality.

Filming will begin next week in Detroit, Michigan.
