Twilight & “Dexter” scribe Melissa Rosenberg hired to pen Highlander reboot?

From vampires to highly elevated Scots…

It’s been three months since last hearing of Justin Lin’s HIGHLANDER reboot, when it was rumored that Vinnie Jones would play the mighty Kurgan. Seeing how Summit has hired another screenwriter, I’m really not sure where that leaves Jones in all this…

THR reports that TWILIGHT and “Dexter” scribe Melissa Rosenberg (seen right) has been hired to write the HIGHLANDER reboot script, although it’s not clear if she’s doing a page one rewrite or a polish of Art Marcum and Matt Holloway’s script. Apparently Cormac and Marianne Wibberley also tried their hands at a draft.

Here’s a preliminary synopsis: An Immortal from the highlands of Scotland, once trained by ancient Immortal Ramirez, fighting in modern times against other immortals in a “contest” called the Gathering; a contest whose ultimate end line is that there can be only one.

Okay, so given Rosenberg’s track record (which includes “The O.C.”, “Birds of Prey” and Ammon’s favorite film, STEP UP), is HIGHLANDER still something to look forward to? Be honest…
