Two more names thrown in directors ring for Pride & Prejudice & Zombies?

Last month it became apparent that Lionsgate had been eyeing director Craig Gillespie (FRIGHT NIGHT, LARS AND THE REAL GIRL) to helm the oft-stalled PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES. Well, as we’ve said before, with more time comes more candidates…

THR is reporting that in addition to Gillespie, the studio is now considering two names. Seth Grahame-Smith may be given the chance to adapt his own novel to the big screen, in what would be his directorial debut. If this turns out to be the choice, Grahame-Smith will co-direct with David Katzenberg (son of legendary producer Jeffrey Katzenberg).

Grahame-Smith and Katzenberg are the team behind Katzsmith Productions, and although this would mark the big-screen debut of both, word is Katzenberg will direct the MTV show they’ll both produce called THE HARD TIMES OF RJ BERGER.

As you know, PPZ will tell the timeless story of a woman’s quest for love and independence amid the outbreak of a deadly virus that turns the undead into vicious killers.

So what do you think? Is Smith and Katzenberg right for the gig? Even though they haven’t directed, Smith knows the material better than anyone, and with him writing the screenplay, it could be more beneficial than bringing on another hired hand.

Thoughts?
