Something else I’ve never heard of making the trip to the big screen, this time an adaptation of the 1970s t.v. show “UFO”. Now, don’t call me a young whipper-snapper; I’m plenty well-versed in t.v.’s history, especially when it comes to sci-fi/horror shows (sometimes embarrassingly so), but this one has eluded me.
UFO was/is about Shado (Supreme Headquarters Alien Defense Organization), a secret military operation hidden beneath a Hollywood studio, whose operatives battle an alien race that has been kidnapping and killing humans for decades and using the body parts.
Damn, that’s pretty cool! The series lasted for only one season, and was created by Gerry Anderson, the mastermind behind such camp-fests as “Thunderbirds, “Space: 1999”, and “Captain Scarlett and the Mysterions”.
Visual Effects whiz Matthew Gratzner will direct. Gratzner has worked on big-time flicks like IRON MAN, HANCOCK, and the upcoming Scoresese-directed SHUTTER ISLAND… For everything you could possibly hope to learn about the show, head on over to this SITE.
