Box Office: Uncharted leads second weekend as we await the arrival of The Batman

Uncharted easily topped the box office for the second weekend in a row as moviegoers eagerly await the arrival of The Batman next week.

Uncharted grossed $23.2 million over the weekend which represents a sold 47% drop from last weekend. Any drop below 50% is considered a win for Sony Pictures and it more than guarantees that the film is a for sure franchise starter for the studio. To date, Uncharted has grossed $83.3 million at the domestic box office and, after pulling in another $35 million from overseas markets, the film has grossed $226.4 million worldwide.

Maintaining second place is Dog, which also held well with a gross of $10.1 million. That’s a slim decline of 32% which is a great showing coming off of a holiday weekend. Chalk this one up to moviegoers loving dogs, Channing Tatum, and a nice original story. To date, Dog has grossed $30.8 million at the domestic box office and is likely to hit $50 million+ by the end of its run.

In third place, we find Spider-Man: No Way Home still holding strong with a gross of $5.7 million for a decline of just 23%. What can be said about this film now? No Way Home is thriving on repeat viewings as it continues to perform well since releasing 11 weeks ago. To date, Spider-Man: No Way Home has grossed a staggering $779.8 million at the domestic box office after taking in another $7 million from overseas markets, the film brings its global total to $1.85 billion and it has surpassed Titanic’s initial global run of $1.84 billion over the weekend.

In fourth place, we have Death on the Nile with a gross of $4.5 million. That’s a drop of 31% from last weekend it’s better than its previous hold but it won’t a Murder on the Orient Express level hit by the end of its run. Death on the Nile is appealing to older women and this demo really hasn’t fully returned to theaters since the pandemic, with the exception of last November’s House of Gucci. To date, Death on the Nile has grossed $32.7 million at the domestic box office and after taking in another $4.5 million from international markets, the film brings its global haul to an impressive $101.3 million.

Rounding out the top five is Jackass Forever with a gross of $3.1 million. That’s a drop of 39% as the boys from Jackass continue to pull in some solid numbers of their scant $10 million budget. Jackass Forever has taken in $52 million at the domestic box office and has even managed to gross $16 million overseas to date. This represents another win for Paramount Pictures after Scream last month.
