Uncut Nightbreed to screen in Indy, but no DVD plans in store

It has been rumored for quite a while now, but it’s really, finally happening: The UNCUT version of Clive Barker’s NIGHTBREED will be unleashed. Sure, it’s in Indianapolis of all places, but you’ve got to start somewhere!

Why in Indy? Well, they need something to cheer them up after they blew the Super Bowl. But it’s also where the latest HorrorHound convention will take place. The length of the cut is approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes, adding all the cuts and trims that the flick underwent after getting slapped with an “X” rating. (The theatrical cut runs about 1 hour and 40 minutes, so that’s some substantial new material in there!)

Here’s the sad part: this is most likely a one-shot deal, at least for the foreseeable future. Looking at Clive Barker’s Official Site, it seems as though Morgan Creek – the company with the rights to the film – has decided to hold off on going the extra mile and providing the world with this special edition of NIGHTBREED.

From the site: Morgan Creek have decided to take “a pause” before deciding to move forward with the DVD release we’re all calling for. They’ve adopted a “not now” position, telling us that, in their opinion, the current market will not support the required investment in reassembling the master reels to produce a director’s cut of the movie.
