Given the success of the chat room horror movie UNFRIENDED earlier this year, it seems like a perfect time for Unearthed Films to get the social media horrors of writer/director Matthew Gunnoe’s CREEPER out on video. The distributor has announced a September 29th street date for the film’s DVD release.

CREEPER, which has the tagline “Be careful who you friend”, tells the following story:

Heather and her friends have some devilish fun on the social website, ConnectMeNet. However, their amusement has come at the expense of a lonely and medicated half-wit, Jerry Tobin. After goading him into humiliating himself on camera in various cruel acts of depravity, they post the clips online for the world to see in a video titled “Revenge on a Creeper”. This ruins Jerry’s meager life and he disappears without a trace… Fast forward a year, and the tables are now turned when Jerry reemerges, off the antipsychotic medication that clouded his thoughts and kept his demons at bay. Now the girls are forced into a nightmarish fight for their lives!

Ah, revenge for a mind-breaking prank. I always have hope for a movie with a classic slasher set-up like that.

It appears that CREEPER has been down a long road to get to this point, as its IMDb page says it had its first screening in 2012. Now it’s finally going to be seen by a wider audience, and if you’d like to be one of its viewers, the DVD can be pre-ordered on Amazon.
