Up in the Air trailer

You’ll pardon me for stepping out of line here with the blogerati but I’m just not drinking the Jason Reitman kool-aid. In the past few days I’ve heard him compared to Billy Wilder, Hal Ashby and Preston Sturgess. Uh huh. Frankly I’d like to see more than three films from the guy before declaring him a modern equal to three of the finest directors the medium has seen. To quote Winston Wolfe, let’s not start sucking each others dicks quite yet.

I’m not dismissing Reitman next film UP IN THE AIR sight unseen but I’m certainly not jumping for joy as if Moses has come down from the mountain with two stone tablets in hand. I’ll go see it just like I’d go to see EXTRACT or something. This new trailer, which debuted today at Slashfilm, is fine and mostly coasts on the ability of Clooney to deliver an effective speech. It’s got me slightly intrigued and I’ll leave it at that. You can check it out below.
