UPDATE: The official cover art has been added below!

One of the best films of 2009, for me at least, had to have been John Hillcoat’s THE ROAD, starring our man Viggo Mortensen and (ever so briefly) Charlize Theron.

If you missed the depressing tale of a post-apocalyptic America, then you’re in luck! Because Sony Home Entertainment is hooking up the DVD and Blu-ray release of the film May 25, 2010! Nice! And while we don’t have the cover art for the releases quite yet, we do have some of the specs you can look forward to checking out. Here they are:

  • Commentary by director John Hillcoat
  • Deleted and extended scenes
  • Making of The Road featurette
  • Theatrical trailers
  • [Blu-ray only] BD-Live
  • Not a bad set of features for a film that received some critical acclaim, but came and went fairly unnoticed, and was completely shut out of the award season. Eff you, BLIND SIDE! I blame you! Or rather, I blame Sandra Bullock…

Anyway, THE ROAD on DVD and Blu-ray May 25th. Stick around for the release of the DVD / Blu-ray art, which should be coming anytime now, and if you’re feeling up to it, be sure to PRE-ORDER YOUR COPY TODAY!
