ALAN PARTRIDGE is coming to the U.S.!

Well, in movie form, anyway. The famed "faux" British radio host has been around for decades in the U.K. and built quite a following, while remaining relatively unknown to mass audiences in the U.S. However, comedian Steve Coogan's outlandish alter ego is about to wash up on our shores and expose us to the vulgar, narcissistic antics of the much-beloved character, who has been featured in a long-running TV series and a number of specials in the UK. The film stars Coogan in the titular role in what looks to be a fun time at the movies.

Take a look:

Here's the synopsis:

When famous DJ Alan Partridge's radio station is taken over by a new media conglomerate, it sets in motion a chain of events which see Alan having to work with the police to defuse a potentially violent siege.

I've had no exposure to ALAN PARTRIDGE, being as I'm just a yankee, but I've often heard rumblings of just how awesome Steve Coogan is as the character. The trailer is literally my first exposure to Coogan as Partridge and my first impression is that it looks like a lot of fun, but none of the decades-long hype carries over. For fans of the character this may be a big deal, though, so let's hear what you guys have to say.

ALAN PARTRIDGE will be released on VOD on February 27, 2014 and will have a limited theatrical run on April 4, 2014.
