Very tight schedule revealed for Apollo 18; shooting begins next week

Call me crazy, but I thought the Weinstein’s APOLLO 18 was already in production. The thing has a MARCH 4th release date and has already commenced with the standard viral marketing; it was my assumption that it was either in the can or well into shooting by now. Guess I was wrong by a mile, because in a brief article over at The Hollywood Reporter, it’s revealed that cameras won’t roll until DECEMBER 20th.

Even more interesting is the fact that it’s set to finish filming on JANUARY 13th. That’s just over three weeks of shooting; add to that the very tight turnaround that comes with a release date looming only two months after it wraps and you’ve got quite an unusually brief production all in. (Not to mention that APOLLO 18 was only announced last month and the fact that it underwent a change in the director’s chair a week after that.) Perhaps that immediacy will translate effectively in the finished product…

Filming on the Gonzalo Lopez-Gallegos film will take place in Vancouver. Timur Bekmambetov and Michele Wolkoff are producing.
