Video mixes Hamill and Headey’s voices with classic Masters of the Universe

A few weeks ago, Mattel Television and Netflix announced the voice cast for the upcoming anime series Masters of the Universe: Revelation, which serves as a follow-up to the classic He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon from the 1980s. That cast consists of Mark Hamill as Skeletor, Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn, Chris Wood as Prince Adam/He-Man, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Teela, Liam Cunningham as Man-At-Arms, Stephen Root as Cringer, Griffin Newman as Orko, Henry Rollins as Tri-Klops, Justin Long as Roboto, Jason Mewes as Stinkor, Phil LaMarr as He-Ro, Tony Todd as Scare Glow, Alicia Silverstone as Queen Marlena, Diedrich Bader as King Randor/Trap Jaw, Tiffany Smith as Andra, Susan Eisenberg as Sorceress, Cree Summer as Priestess, Kevin Michael Richardson as Beast Man, Kevin Conroy as Mer-Man, Harley Quinn Smith as Ileena, and original Skeletor Alan Oppenheimer as Moss Man.

Sometime in the last few weeks, Mattel released a behind-the-scenes video that showed Hamill and Headey recording lines as Skeletor and Evil-Lyn. I haven't been able to find this video, but thankfully YouTuber Grim2 was able to save the audio from that video and did something very interesting with it.

Curious to see what it would be like if Hamill and Headey's vocal performances were paired with Skeletor and Evil-Lyn animation from the Filmation series, Grim2 went ahead and combined those things, creating the video embedded above. We don't know what the animation for Masters of the Universe: Revelation is going to look like just yet, but this still provides a cool preview of what it will be like to see Hamill and Headey voicing Skeletor and Evil-Lyn.

Kevin Smith serves as showrunner of Masters of the Universe: Revelation and is executive producer alongside Adam Bonnett, Christopher Keenan, and Rob David. The show is produced by Mattel Television and Susan Corbin. Writers include Eric Carrasco, Tim Sheridan, Diya Mishra, and Marc Bernardin.

With animation by Powerhouse Animation, who also do the Castlevania series for Netflix, this series will focus on

the unresolved storylines of the iconic characters, picking up where they left off decades ago.

A premiere date has not yet been announced.
