Audiences are gearing up to get back into the FAST & FURIOUS spirit with this August’s HOBBS & SHAW spinoff, but the cast of the main series has just started work on the ninth installment on the long-running franchise. The action flick started shooting yesterday and stars Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez took to Instagram to mark the occasion, dressed in their car-fixin' gear and filming in the open country.

“We just completed our first day. It feels like a miracle — one hard-earned, but we’re just so grateful,” Diesel said in the video. He continues, saying how grateful he is to the studio and the fans for giving them the chance to keeping making movies in this now billion-dollar-earning series, and he even asks Rodriguez if she could believe they were back. "I can actually," she quickly responds.

This new movie brings back many series veterans, including Nathalie Emmanuel, who also took to social media to say she finished the first day of shooting. The rest of the cast includes Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and newcomer John Cena. Other members of past movies — Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham — are not back for this outing and are instead living it up with their own movie.

Director Justin Lin (FAST FIVE, FURIOUS 6) is back helming both the ninth and tenth installments, which have been reported to be the final movies in this main series. If that last part is true then they are one day down on the penultimate entry in the series and maybe, just maybe, after they're done saving the world for good both Dom and Letty can retire to the countryside where they can live out their days souping-up tractors.

FAST & FURIOUS 9 is in theaters May 22, 2020, and HOBBS AND SHAW is in theaters August 2.
