Vivica Fox to return for Roland Emmerich’s Independence Day sequel

Early this morning director Roland Emmerich announced on Twitter that Vivica Fox will return as Jasmine in the INDEPENDENCE DAY sequel, joining Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Fox's ID4 co-star Jeff Goldblum. Later Fox tweeted she's "so exited and blessed to be part of this journey again." Somehow I doubt Fox's character will still be a stripper (excuse me, "exotic dancer") in INDEPENDENCE DAY 2.

There's still no details on Charlotte Gainsbourg's role (or if Brent Spiner's Dr. Okun will be back; sorry guys), but Jeff Goldblum will return as computer expert David Levinson, and Liam Hemsworth might be playing former President Thomas Whitmore's (Bill Pullman) son-in-law. Jessie Usher will reportedly star as Jasmine's son and step-son of Captain Steven Hiller (Will Smith). While Smith won't be reprising his Hiller role, I'm hoping the filmmakers have at least contacted Pullman about possibly appearing in the sequel.

Roland Emmerich is currently prepping to shoot INDEPENDENCE DAY 2, and it is scheduled to open on June 24, 2016.
