Let’s go Voltron force! The project that you knew was gonna get fasttracked post-TRANSFORMERS is moving ahead. New Regency has signed a deal to produce VOLTRON into a live-action movie. The studio has a distribution deal set up at Fox who would release the film in the US (other Regency-based Fox pics include ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS, JUMPER and STARSHIP DAVE). The film would be based on the script by Justin Marks, which takes place on a post-apocalyptic Earth after an alien invasion. Five survivors band together, team up with lion-shaped robots and form Voltron to fight off the alien invaders. Marks has been in fanboy script heaven lately with this film, HE-MAN and the DC Comics ensemble SUPER MAX. Still no word on director or when the project could get underway but Regency is apparently looking for a hit (MR. AND MRS. SMITH was their last one) and wants to get a franchise kicked off so hopefully it’ll be sooner than later. One thing is for sure: that trailer you saw in front of TRANSFORMERS isn’t for VOLTRON.
