We’ve written a few articles hailing the stupendous numbers for AMC’s “The Walking Dead” since its huge premiere back on Halloween night, but as last night’s episode was the last new one until – most likely – October 2011, what’s one more… especially when the numbers are so damn good.
The first season finale of “The Walking Dead” scored gigantic ratings for AMC, with around six million folks tuning in to see what happened to our protagonists once they were invited into the eerie CDC. The total audience for the ep was around 8.1 million after factoring in the 10pm and 1am repeats. That’s up 9% last week’s episode – and that episode was already a series high.
And how’s this for a whopper of a statistic: In the all-important 18-49 demo (the coveted age range for advertisers), “The Walking Dead” had an average of 3.5 million viewers during its six-episode run – the best average of any basic cable drama going back to 1993. That’s quite incredible, wouldn’t you agree?
As we told you earlier, the DVD and Blu-ray will hit in March. Should be bloody good!
