In dire need of indie counterprogramming to the giant Summer blockbusters? If so, I’m not sure you can do better than Paco Plaza and Jaume Balaguero’s [REC] 2, the rabid zombie follow up to their exemplary 2007 precursor. And to further drive the point your through your heart (and eyes), we’ve got a brand new red-band trailer for the film below!
In U.K. cinemas today (May 28th), and finally making its U.S. premiere on July 9th (going head to head with PREDATORS), [REC] 2 commences:
Only minutes have passed since the authorities lost contact with those trapped inside the virus-stricken apartment block, now completely sealed off from the outside world. Chaos reigns outside and a SWAT team, equipped with video cameras, has been sent in to try and control the situation. However, no one is prepared for the evil that awaits them and, once again, they must keep recording…no matter what!
Now, you may recall we had a restricted look at the trailer at the end of March. No worries, the new one is not only longer, it features oodles of new grue-drenched goodies (yes, I used the word oodles…deal with it).
Manuela Velasco (below) reprises her leading role of Angela Vidal, with supporting work coming from Jonathan Mellor, Oscar Zafra, Ariel Casas, Alejandro Casaseca, Pablo Rosso, Pep Molina, Andrea Ros and Ferran Terraza.
