The kids are alright at #1!

Young men getting into adult-sized mischief brought the biggest crowds this weekend to put GOOD BOYS on top at the box office with an estimated opening of $21 million!

The feature directing debut of Gene Stupnitsky (a writer on TV series "The Office"), the new R-rated comedy from producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg cost a reported $20 million.

The party-seeking trio of truant sixth-graders (led by Jacob Tremblay of ROOM and THE PREDATOR) also grabbed $2.1 million from international audiences for a $23.1 million worldwide weekend.

Critics were mostly amused by the horny misadventures of wayward children, giving the movie an 80% average on Rotten Tomatoes. Skip over to the JoBlo review HERE.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Jason Statham pumped the brakes as FAST & FURIOUS PRESENTS: HOBBS & SHAW slowed to second place with $14.1 million.

On its third weekend, the $200 million action spinoff from JOHN WICK director David Leitch has driven to a domestic total of $133.7 million (passing the $127 million finish of 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS) and a worldwide total of $437 million.

The remake of Disney's THE LION KING kept its claws in third place with $11.9 million as the royal cub prepares to crest the half-bllion domestic peak.

After five weekends, director Jon Favreau's PG-rated lifelike animation has climbed to an imposing $1.43 billion worldwide, on a reported cost of $250 million.

Opening in fourth place was the new animated sequel THE ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE 2 with $10.5 million for the weekend.

The PG-rated follow-up of irritable feathered friends (whose voices include Jason Sudeikis, Bill Hader and Josh Gad) has a domestic total of $16.2 million since it flew into theaters on Wednesday.

Based on the once-popular mobile game, the original THE ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE opened with $38 million in May of 2016 and catapulted to $107.5 million domestic and $352 million worldwide on a $73 million budget (the sequel came with a reported $65 million price tag).

Critics were moderately entertained by the continued conflict between green pigs and hurled birds, giving the movie an average of 76% on Rotten Tomatoes.

In fifth place was the PG-13 horror movie SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK with $10 million, frightening away 52% of business from its opening last weekend.

The adaptation of Alvin Schwartz's books from producer/co-writer Guillermo del Toro and director Andre Ovredal has a ten-day domestic total of $40.2 million and $54.3 million worldwide, on a reported $28 million cost.

In sixth place was the shark thriller 47 METERS DOWN: UNCAGED with an opening of $9 million.

The PG-13 underwater psuedo-sequel came out below the original 47 METERS DOWN, which first surfaced with $11.2 million in June 2017 before treading to $44.3 million domestic on a budget of $5 million.

Again directed by Johannes Roberts, the new subaquatic survival horror with Corinne Foxx and Sistine Stallone (daughters of Jamie Foxx and Sylvester Stallone) cost a reported $12 million.

Opening in ninth place was the new PG-13 comedy-drama BLINDED BY THE LIGHT with $4.4 million.

Directed by Gurinder Chadha (BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM), the Bruce Springsteen-inspired tale of a British-Pakistani teen in 1987 cost a reported $15 million.

Outside the chart, Pixar's TOY STORY 4 went back in the box along with comedy-drama THE FAREWELL, crime-drama THE KITCHEN (after a single weekend in the Top 10) and superhero sequel SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME, which finally crawled over the $373 million domestic finish of Sam Raimi's SPIDER-MAN 2 and also became Sony's highest-grossing worldwide release as it topped the $1.1 billion global total of SKYFALL.

Meanwhile, the Cate Blanchett comedy-drama WHERE'D YOU GO, BERNADETTE opened on 2400 screens but couldn't crack the list with $3.4 million for the weekend.

Director Richard Linklater's PG-13 adaptation of Maria Semple's mystery novel also didn't find a strong response from critics, who gave it a 44% average on Rotten Tomatoes (the JoBlo review is HERE).
