Perhaps looking to sweep his latest directorial debacle under the rug as quickly as possible, Wes Craven is now switching his attention to the updated SCREAM franchise. No doubt hoping to recreate what made the second half of his career relevant again in the 90s, Craven caught up with MTV and confirmed what we all had figured by now…SCREAM 4 is just the first in a new trilogy.
When quizzed about the original intentions of a SCREAM 4, Craven noted:
“It is or was a planned trilogy. I think the studio is realistic enough to say, let’s see how it does. But Kevin Williamson [the series creator and screenwriter] does have an idea for a planned trilogy out of it.”
Any juicy deets you can share with us Wes?
“The studio wants to be very, very secretive about it,” Craven admitted. “I think it’s kind of known that Neve is returning to her hometown for a short visit, and all hell breaks loose. But there’s also a whole cast of new characters — there’s some very, very interesting kids.”
Very, very interesting kids? Hopefully better than MY SOUL TO TAKE…then again, those f*kin’ Jersey Shore brats are probably more interesting…
SCREAM 4, soon to enter post-production, comes out April 15, 2011. It stars Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Courteney Cox, Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin, Adam Brody, Marielle Jaffe, Anthony Anderson, Nico Tortorella, Mary McDonnell, Lucy Hale, Marley Shelton (below), Alison Brie and Erik Knudson.
