Wesley Snipes is magic. I mean, the guy is in prison and yet here is a brand new movie with him in the starring role. Okay, so technically this is not new as Snipes filmed it in Namibia back in 2010 when he was evading authorities regarding outstanding tax issues. But, while he sits in a prison cell, we get to enjoy a new action movie with him in the lead.

Snipes has been relegated to the home video market the last decade or so, which is a shame because the man has made some fun movies (PASSENGER 57, BLADE, RICOCHET) and always delivers one-liners with the best of them. This new movie, GALLOWWALKERS, looks like an attempt to combine his BLADE persona with the western genre. The results are not exactly big budget fare, but I still feel like this movie would be a hell of a lot of fun.

Check out the trailer:

Plot: When a nun broke her covenant with God to save the life of Aman, her unborn son, he was cursed for life. As an adult, Aman (Snipes) has killed those who have crossed him. But his curse brings his victims back to life, and as the undead, they pursue him endlessly for revenge. Forever suffering this curse, Aman enlists Fabulos, a young gunman, to fight by his side against his undead victims

There does not appear to be any firm release date for the movie, but I would expect it will get an On Demand release before going right to Blu-ray. At the very least, this shows Snipes can still kick some ass. Hopefully he is pumping iron in prison so he can join THE EXPENDABLES 3 once he is released.
