Elizabeth Banks (INVINCIBLE, SPIDER-MAN 3) has signed on to star in and produce the upcoming romantic comedy WHAT ABOUT BARB? for Universal. In the film Banks will play an uptight socialite who has to convince her misfit cousin to be her maid of honor at her upcoming wedding so that her rich uncle will foot the bill. I guess my biggest question is when did Elizabeth Banks get the clout to start producing projects? I gotta say I’m pretty impressed she’s not just sitting around and waiting for the next girlfriend role to come up. My second biggest question is why they’re trying to rip off the title of the Bill Murray classic WHAT ABOUT BOB?. Not to mention that “What About Barb?” was just the title of an episode of CBS’ “Old Adventures of New Christine.” Might be time for a title change guys. Mark Perez (ACCEPTED) is writing the script while Banks finishes up work starring in the Eddie Murphy comedy STARSHIP DAVE. Banks can be seen next reprising her thankless role as Betty Brant in SPIDER-MAN 3.
