Marvel’s What If…? season 2: the titles of all nine episodes have been officially revealed!

The titles of all nine episodes that make up season 2 of Marvel’s What If…? have been revealed by Disney+ and Marvel

The second season of Marvel’s animated series What If…?  is set to make its streaming premiere on Disney+ on December 22nd, with the season’s nine episodes being released on a daily basis through December 30th. Now, with a week to go until the premiere date, the titles of all nine episodes have been officially revealed! Here’s the line-up:

Episode 1: What If… Nebula Joined the Nova Corps? – Episode 2: What If… Peter Quill Attacked Earth’s Mightiest Heroes? – Episode 3: What If… Happy Hogan Saved Christmas? – Episode 4: What If… Iron Man Crashed Into the Grandmaster? – Episode 5: What If… Captain Carter Fought the Hydra Stomper? – Episode 6: What If… Kahhori Reshaped the World? – Episode 7: What If… Hela Found the Ten Rings? – Episode 8: What If… The Avengers Assembled in 1602? – Episode 9: What If… Strange Supreme Intervened?

Marvel’What If…? season 2 has the following synopsis: The Watcher continues the journey as our guide through the vast multiverse, introducing brand-new and familiar faces throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The animated anthology series questions, revisits and twists classic Marvel Cinematic moments with an incredible voice cast that includes a host of stars who reprise their iconic roles.

Two episodes of What If…? season 2 were recently screened for critics, and IGN reports that What If… Nebula Joined the Nova Corps? has the following synopsis: In a world where Ronan deposes Thanos long before the events of Infinity War, Nebula is recruited to join the Nova Corps. Desperate to escape her father’s shadow, she sets out to prove her detective chops.

The What If… Happy Hogan Saved Christmas? episode has this synopsis: When Justin Hammer lays siege to Avengers Tower during the annual holiday party, there’s only one person left on site to stop him—Happy Hogan. But in setting out to prove his hero chops, Iron Man’s errand boy may end up transforming himself in more ways than one. So there we have a good reason for this season to have a December premiere date.

The 1602 idea may seem odd to some, but that’s inspired by an eight-issue limited series that was written by Neil Gaiman and published in 2003. Wikipedia notes Gaiman’s story “takes place in a timeline where Marvel superheroes exist in the Elizabethan era; faced with the destruction of their world by a mysterious force, the heroes must fight to save their universe. Many of the early Marvel superheroes — Nick Fury, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and Spider-Man — as well as villains such as Doctor Doom and Magneto appear in various roles.” So we’re going to be seeing some kind of variation on that concept.

Season 1 also consisted of nine episodes. Those had the following titles: What If… Captain Carter Were the First Avenger?, What If… T’Challa Became a Star-Lord?, What If… the World Lost Its Mightiest Heroes?, What If… Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands?, What If… Zombies?!, What If… Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark?, What If… Thor Were an Only Child?, What If… Ultron Won?, and What If… the Watcher Broke His Oath?

A third season of the show is already in the works.
