Will the Baroness return in G.I. Joe 3?

With G.I. JOE: RETALIATION redeeming the franchise after the awful RISE OF COBRA, it was a foregone conclusion that the team behind the sequel’s success would be brought in for a third film. While it is still very early in development, G.I. JOE 3 writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Miller are formulating ideas on what they want to see happen to the characters, including one particular one.

Wernick and Miller, during press for the release of the pilot of the ZOMBIELAND television series, told IGN they want to “resurrect the Baroness like a zombie” for G.I. JOE 3. Not sure exactly what that means as the Sienna Miller character did not die in RISE OF COBRA. Could they have been speaking figuratively or possibly have something in mind to happen to the character? Could we be getting a G.I. JOE movie featuring zombies?

I think what we can assume is that the core characters who survived in G.I. JOE: RETALIATION will return for the third film, possibly including some characters dropped from the first movie. The only guarantee we have is that Dwayne Johnson will likely remain the leader and focus for the future of the series. If Paramount has their way, I would anticipate seeing G.I. JOE 3 as early as next year but more likely in 2015.
