I’m of the opinion that any movie is made better with the presence of Willem Dafoe, and apparently Stephen Sommers feels the same. Why? Variety has it that Dafoe (seen right) is in talks to star as Sheriff Wyatt Porter in Sommer’s adaptation of Dean Koontz’s ODD THOMAS. That’s why!

In Koontz’s novel, Sheriff Porter is one of the only characters whobecomes privy to the fact that Thomas can see ghosts, and vows to do whatever it takes to keep that secret intact so long as Thomas helps him solve and prevent a rash of crimes.

Also starring Anton Yelchin, Tim Robbins and Addison Timlin (below), ODD THOMAS is set in a California desert town, story follows Thomas (Yelchin), a short-order cook with clairvoyant abilities who encounters a mysterious man with a link to dark, threatening forces.

Dafoe can currently be seen in MIRAL, and has THE HUNTER completed, JOHN CARTER OF MARS in post, and THE WILD BUNCH in production.

ODD THOMAS is set to commence production May 2nd in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
