I’ve been awfully tough on Tim Burton as of late, for good reason, but everything I’ve seen out FRANKENWEENIE so far has me believing it’s his best movie in years. The quality of animation, the excellent shot selection (mirroring 30s horror), the inimitable voice talent…all of it congeal in a way that seems not only more original, but more interesting than his recent Disney remakes. Don’t believe me, cop a peek at the new “Mr. Whiskers Dream” clip we have below!

In theaters October 5th:

The stop-motion animated film is a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.

Winona Ryder (below), Martin Short, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Landau, Charlie Tahan, Atticus Shaffer, Robert Capron and Conchata Ferrell all lend their voices.
