It seems director John Woo has decided to explore his romantic side as he’ll be directing a big budget romance epic, titled 1949, as soon as he’s finished with his action adventure epic RED CLIFF. No details on the plot are known as yet other than it’ll take place at the end of WWII and the final years of the Chinese Civil War with Asian stars’ Chang Chen and Song Hye-kyo starring. Production is expected to begin in December in China and Taiwan for a release December of next year from a script by LUST, CAUTION and CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON scribe Wang Hui-ling. Woo’s RED CLIFF will be released July 10th in most Asian territories with a stateside release still pending.
