In December I told you about a project in the works called THE GIRL FROM MARS, which is to be directed by James Felix McKinney (SATAN HATES YOU, HYPOTHERMIA). At the time, NCIS star Pauley Perrette was the only castmember attached, but today brings another name into the fold – an unexpected one, at that.

Via a press release, “World War Z” author Max Brooks has joined the sci-fi comedy; the author will be playing an anchorman in a series of television broadcasts which appear throughout the film.

Brooks, in case you didn’t know, has acting in his genes: His pop is Mel Brooks, and his mom is the late, great Anne Bancroft. You’d think he’d be more of a natural at hamming it up as opposed to writing about zombie outbreaks, but there you go… (He’s turned his hand at comedy though; he won an Emmy in 2002 for writing on SNL.)

As for the film itself, it concerns lonely nerd whose life is transformed when he meets the girl of his dreams who claims to be a visitor from another planet.

Filming is scheduled to begin in May. You can check out the official site (what there is of it) right HERE.
