Wrong Turn reboot gets a poster, is titled Wrong Turn: The Foundation

For the last year, we've been following the progress of a project we have referred to as a remake of WRONG TURN… but now that its title has been revealed, that title makes it seem more like a sequel that branches away from the original concept rather than a complete re-do. This isn't simply called WRONG TURN, like the average remake would be. This is WRONG TURN: THE FOUNDATION.

The title was revealed on a teaser poster our friends over at Bloody-Disgusting got their hands on.

Directed by Mike P. Nelson (THE DOMESTICS) from a script by Alan B. McElroy, who also wrote the original WRONG TURN, this one stars Charlotte Vega as Jes, one of

six friends from New York taking a hiking trip to the beautiful West Virginia Mountains who unwittingly fall prey to a savage sect known as The Foundation, a community of people who have lived in the mountains since before the Civil War.

Vega's co-stars include Matthew Modine, Bill Sage, Emma Dumont, Valerie Jane Parker, Chaney Morrow, David Hutchison, Damian Maffei, Dylan McTee, Adrian Favela, Adain Bradley, Jeremy Ambler, Cory Scott Allen, Gary Ray Stearns, Rhyan Elizabeth Hanavan, Vardaan Arora, Mark Mench, Joshua Stephen Campbell, Jennie Malone, Brian James Fitzpatrick, and Mark Angel.

The previous WRONG TURN movies featured inbred killers with names like One Eye, Saw Tooth, and Three Finger, but the biggest threats in this one seem to be Foundation members with nicknames like Deer Skull, Ram Skull, Wild Boar Skull, and Wolf Skull.

While this is rebooting the franchise and replacing the killers, giving it a subtitle makes it seem to me like it's more of a HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH situation where an entry of a franchise tells a different story. It doesn't make much difference if it is considered a remake or a sequel that does its own thing, that's just the thought that calling it WRONG TURN: THE FOUNDATION puts in my head.

A release date hasn't been announced for the film, but we'll let you know when we hear what the distribution plans are.
