Eventually directed by Peyton Reed, the film was long-in-development by Edgar Wright (HOT FUZZ) and Joe Cornish, who carried the film for a long time from script to pre-production. Eventually, Wright left the project after clashing with Marvel Studios and the film commenced without him, even though he shares a writing credit with Cornish on the final film.
