Happy days! On a day when one film is being censored, another is overcoming the man to reach the masses. It was well-publicized last month when Kevin Smith’s ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO received an NC-17 from the MPAA (of course The Weinstein Co. did all they could to publicize that fact). Kevin vowed to fight the rating without making any cuts to the film (a la CLERKS) and that he did and he was successful! According to the MPAA, the rating was revised after the group’s appeals board give ZACK AND MIRI another viewing and apparently came to the conclusion that the original rating was full of shit. Kevin has said that he may still cut his film but it would be for timing and comedic effect not because the MPAA said it wasn’t proper for people under the age of 17. So a win for the little guy today! ZACK AND MIRI hits theaters on the odd date of Halloween.
