Zak Penn to rewrite The Karate Kid sequel

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

I remember when I was all anti KARATE KID remake. Then I finally watched it on DVD and to my surprise actually enjoy it. I’ve also seen it more than once. I feel so ashamed admitting this.

Anyway, I figured that the one remake was it. Then today news comes out that a writer has been hired to rewrite the sequel, KARATE KID II. Who is this lucky fella? Zak Penn, scribe for THE INCREDIBLE HULK and X-MEN: THE LAST STAND.

What was the 1986 sequel all about? “Daniel accompanies his mentor to Okinawa who is off to see his dying father and confront his old rival, while Daniel inadvertently makes an enemy of his own.” Jackie Chan nor Jaden Smith have signed on, but are expected to join.

The plot is said to be “under wraps” but I’m sure it won’t differ much from the original.
