Zoe Kravitz to lead a High Fidelity TV series based on the 2000 music comedy

Remember what I'd said earlier about female-led projects dominating the Hollywood news cycle? Well now it's being reported that BIG LITTLE LIES and MAD MAX: FURY ROAD alumna Zoe Kravitz has been tapped to lead a television series adaptation of HIGH FIDELITY for Disney’s upcoming streaming service. Based on the Nick Hornsby novel of the same name, as well as Touchstone's feature adaptation starring John Cusack, HIGH FIDELITY has been picked up for a 10-episode order. The new and gender-swapped version of the musically-charged romantic comedy will showcase Kravitz as the project's title character. In addition to starring in the new series, Kravitz will also executive produce.

In HIGH FIDELITY, a record store owner and compulsive list maker, recounts his top five breakups, including the one in progress. Directed by Stephen Frears, the 2000 original film starred John Cusack as Rob Gordon, the self-obsessed music guru in the midst of yet another nasty breakup. Joining Cusack in co-starring roles for the comedic drama were Jack Black (THE HOUSE WITH A CLOCK IN ITS WALLS, SCHOOL OF ROCK) Todd Louiso , Lisa Bonet (ENEMY OF THE STATE, THE COSBY SHOW), Tim Robbins (THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, MYSTIC RIVER) and Joan Cusack (SCHOOL OF ROCK, TOYS). Coincidentally enough, Lisa Bonet is also Kravitz's real-life mother. Talk about HIGH FIDELITY coming full-circle, eh?

Writing the series for Disney's upcoming streamer are Veronica West and Sarah Kucserka. Meanwhile, West and Kucserka will also executive produce alongside Midnight Radio’s Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Scott Rosenberg. As per a recent report, Disney's direct-to-consumer streaming service will launch in late 2019 and will feature a wide array of both new and existing content.
