Zombie spec script Maggie back up for grabs, Timur Bekmambetov won’t produce

Perhaps it was only an elaborate April Fool’s Day joke…

Back on April 1st, we heard Timur Bekmambetov (lending his vision above) was set to produce a zombie spec script called MAGGIE, written by John Scott 3. Timur even assigned visual F/X maven Henry Hobson to direct the flick. Well folks, all that’s apparently for naught.

Deadline has it that MAGGIE is back on the market, after an official deal with the principals above fizzled. Word is the film currently has no suitors, despite its paltry $5 million budget. Even with a cheap price tag to produce, however, the film isn’t a typical brain-eating zombie flick, but has more to do with the psychological ramifications incurred in a 16 year old girl. Here’s the synopsis:

Maggie is a 16-year old girl from a town in middle America who becomes infected by a zombie. It will take six months for Maggie to turn, and the film tracks the transformation as she stays with her family.

More on MAGGIE as it comes…

Timur’s WANTED star Angie Jolie!
