Filming began this week on the romantic comedy – wait!, where are you going! I know the words “romantic comedy” are like kryptonite to most of you but this one sounds like it might be worth something. Really I have nothing to base this on other than the two leads, Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The two are perhaps the most talented and charming of their generation of actors and not known for leading a romantic comedy, which makes it that much better. The film stars Gordon-Levitt as a guy who falls in love with a woman (Deschanel) who doesn’t believe love exists. The film will mark the feature directorial debut of Marc Webb, a music video director who’s worked with some spectacularly crappy bands (O-Town, Daniel Powter and Maroon 5 among them). So a romantic comedy directed by a music video director would seem to have the odds stacked against it but I’ll still stand behind a Zooey and Joey movie any day. Deschanel can be seen next month in THE HAPPENING and Gordon-Levitt just wrapped filming on GI JOE.
