Zootopia 2 on Disney+
While both Netflix and Paramount talk big games about honoring a 45-day theatrical window for films before they hit streaming, Disney’s CEO Bob Chapek has been a bigger champion of theatrical runs and Zootopia 2 would see a streaming date of March 11 on Disney+, after a 105-day theatrical window. The animated film would break box office records and gross upwards of $1.85 billion for a monster showing during the holidays last year. According to Deadline, the film is the “highest grossing animated MPA title of all time, will also ranking as the eighth highest grossing movie ever.”
Zootopia 2 is also critically beloved, as it recently won a BAFTA for Best Animated Feature and is nominated for the same award for the Oscars. Additionally, the film is so popular in China that there was a spike in interest for purchasing venomous pit vipers, which the character Gary De’Snake is in the film.
