Throw another name into the ring of contenders for the role of Captain America--Ryan Phillippe.

It should come as no surprise that Phillippe is being considered. He may not be the first person that you thought of, but he's certainly not terrible.

Right now, actors still in the running for Cap are: Mike Vogel, Garret Hedlund, Chris Evans, Scott Porter, Chace Crawford, and Michael Cassidy. They're also flirting with the fact that John Krasinski, who was supposedly out of the game, has been screen testing with other Marvel Universe actors. Perhaps they changed their minds? Or maybe they're having a really hard time deciding?

It shouldn't bother anyone that it's taking this long to decide. Honestly, it's a better idea. If they just swiftly decide on someone, then it could be the wrong choice. I'd rather they flip back and forth between who they want instead of just settling on anyone. Obviously, they haven't found the "perfect" person yet.

Phillippe has been consistently good actor throughout his career. He gained recognition and the eye of teenage girls starring in movies like I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER and CRUEL INTENTIONS. Other movies of interest that the actor starred in: 54, THE WAY OF THE GUN, IGBY GOES DOWN, CRASH, and STOP-LOSS. Soon Phillippe will be seen in MACGRUBER alongside Will Forte, Kristen Wiig, and Val Kilmer.

Dude has the voice, physique, presence, and look (mask his face in MS paint if you have to, and you'll see) of an Alex Ross drawn Captain America. NONE of these pussies in the running will make me believe they can lead the Avengers or much less a platoon in WWII. I don't give a fuck if they can pull off pre-Cap Steve Rogers, I need to believe the actor as Steve Rogers as Captain America. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT SUPERHERO ROLE TO GET RIGHT leading up to the Avengers. If they fuck up this casting, I will have no faith in an Avengers movie.

I was fine with John Krasinski being up for the role, but now that I hear that Chris Evans is in the run? I think Chris Evans should get it hands down. He definitely looks the part and is a great actor. Forget Fantastic Four (even though he was really the only entertaining part) he sold me with his role in Sunshine.

They need someone who can literally stand alongside Downey. Not a small feat, but Phillipe has that charisma, without going for the jokey chemistry.

They need someone that will come off as a leader. Someone that can stick out amongst Norton and Downey Jr. Which will be tough to do. For that to happen, I think they need a well known actor.

I love Cap, but I'm tired of this. They need to just pick an actor already and start shooting. Casting for this movie seems like the biggest cluster fuck.

He could be good, but him as Anakin? Lucas wouldn't have directed him at all and he probably would have come off as dry and bland as Christensen. I mean how do you make Samuel L. Jackson come off boring?

This has it's pros and cons. He's a good actor but yeah he IS a bit small for how most people think of Cap. And can you imagine how much better would Star Wars have been with him instead of Hayden Christensen?

Wow, he was one of my original picks when this movie was first being considered a couple years ago. Although he might be a bit short, I think he has the acting ability to pull it off, based on roles like Breach and stop-loss. He's at the top of my list out of everyone who marvel has considered.

I still support Mark Valley as Cap. He needs a chance on the big screen and he easily has the looks and military background to be Steve Rogers. Sure he's 45 or so but so is RDJ and Edward Norton is around 40. None of which look their ages and play the roles perfectly.

Hedlund is my first choice. Dude deserves to be huge at this point. Phillippe isn't a bad choice either I suppose. I love Krasinki but him as Cap. America? Ehhhh.

He's a good actor, but I dont really dont want him as Captain. I mean he would probably do an okay job, but I still think John Krasinski is the best actor being considered for Captain America. If not Krasinski, then I would be fine with all the other actors they are considering. Evans, Vogel, Hedlund are all good in my book.
